West Virginia University offers fast, secure 802.11b/g WiFi network access at various locations around the campus, free of charge for faculty, staff, and students. An activated MasterID account is required for authentication to the wireless network.
The MountainAir network offers unencrypted wireless using a hotel-style, web-based login in order to maximize convenience for visiting guests and for users with devices which cannot connect to the encrypted network.
To connect to WVU.MountainAir, simply select it from the list of available networks in your wireless client, and then open a web browser. Your browser will automatically load the sign in page, where you will log in with your WVU MasterID. University guests may request a temporary account through the department hosting their visit to campus. No special configuration of your computer should be needed.
The MountainAir network offers no data security; all wireless traffic on this network is sent "in the clear" and may be overheard by other wireless clients in the area. Please do not use this network to transmit sensitive information unless you are connected to a secure web host via https or SSL.
If you require an encrypted wireless session, use the WVU.Encrypted network instead.
