WVU.Encrypted
Configuration:
Windows Vista
Option One (automated setup):
- Download this file: WVU.Encrypted.xml (Note: right-click this link to save this file to your computer) and save it to the root directory of your C: drive.
- From a command prompt, enter the command following exactly as written:
netsh wlan add profile filename="c:\WVU.Encrypted.xml"
- Follow any prompts to connect and authenticate using your MasterID credentials. Leave the Logon Domain field blank.
If you experience any trouble with this process, please use the manual setup procedure below.
Option Two (manual setup):
- Open your Start Menu, rightclick on "Network" in the righthand column, and click on "Properties."

- In the lefthand column of the Network and Sharing Center, click on "Manage Wireless Networks."

- Click the green plus-sign (+) to Add a new connection.

- Select "Manually create a network profile."

- Enter the network name as WVU.Encrypted, select security type WPA2-Enterprise. Click "Next."

- Choose "Change connection settings."

- Click to the Security tab. Make sure the authentication method is Protected EAP (PEAP) and then click the Settings button.

- Check the box to validate server certificates. If your root certificate list includes IPS Servidores, check that box as well. Make sure the authentication method is EAP-MSCHAP v2, and click the Configure button.

- Make sure the option to "Automatically connect" is NOT checked.

- Click OK on all windows until you see the option to "Connect to...", and select that option.

- If you are prompted to select a network, select WVU.Encrypted and press Connect again.

- If you are presented with a prompt to enter additional logon information, select it.

- Your logon username and password will be your MasterID account. Leave the "Logon Domain" field blank.

- If you are presented with any certificate confirmation dialogs, accept certificates from IPS Servidores and from any wvu.edu servers.
At this point, you should be connected to the wireless network; if you have any problems, you can try connecting to the unsecure (WVU.MountainAir) network instead, or contact the OIT Help Desk for assistance.
