Connectivity
Is there wireless access available?
Currently, WVU does not have campus-wide wireless. Wireless access is not available in the residence halls. However, wireless access is available in the libraries, the Mountainlair, and several academic buildings. For additional information visit the following web site: http://oit.wvu.edu/wireless
What dial-up providers are available?
The TSC recommends WVNET because of it’s low price (currently $16.95 as of 7/3/2005), but there are other dial-up providers in the Morgantown area. Please see www.findanisp.com for more information.
What type of internet connections do Summit, Pierpont, and International House have?
Summit and Pierpont and on ResNET. International House currently has DSL Internet connectivity.
Can I use AOL, MSN, etc.?
Yes, however the connection settings may need to be modified in order to work with ResNet. Internet accounts such as AOL are not necessary in the residence halls, however. For students living off-campus, keep in mind that although AOL and MSN support multiple screen names/users under a single billing account, most providers allow only one screen name to be signed on at once.
Are there broadband connections available off-campus?
Yes. Adelphia provides cable internet access, and Verizon provides DSL internet access. However, note that because these connections are not related to ResNet, support from the TSC is limited.
