West Virginia University's Technology Support Center provides assistance to students attending WVU. Convienently located at the Evansdale residential Complex, the TSC performs virus removal, hardware and software installations, as well as ensuring internet connectivity to students living in the residence halls.
The TSC Resident Network Consultants (RNC) are WVU students who work throughout the semester, providing phone support and doing both on and off site repairs to students in the residence halls. Limited support is available to students living off-campus.
Do the RNCs work for any computing manufacturers?
No, the RNCs are WVU students employed by the university. The RNCs are not affiliated with any computer manufacters.
Do the RNCs work on commission?
No, the RNCs are paid a flat, hourly rate. It is the job of the RNCs to assist parents and students with purchasing a computer, but they do not receive commission for this.
Does the TSC honor all warranty work? Will the TSC repair any machine?
The TSC does warranty work on Dell computers. The TSC assists the student in getting warranty work done on other brands besides dell. Depending on the type and limitations of the warranty some computers may be sent to an authorized sevice center for repairs. Any fees incurred from shipping are the responsibilty of the customer.
What onsite services are available to students living off-campus?
Students that need service who schedule an RNC to come onsite will be notified if there is any onsite fee. Services such as harware installation, software installation, virus removal and harware configuration (not concerning ResNet) are subject to an onsite fee. The most cost effective way to deliver service is to bring the computer to the TSC or have TSC personnel transport the computer to the TSC.
