Network Maintenance on Sunday, October 21

This Sunday, October 21 from 9:00 a.m. until noon, WVU Network Operations will perform mandatory maintenance on some equipment located in the WVNET Data Center. WVU eCampus system will experience brief outages during the three-hour period. As for other systems such as MAP, STAR, and GroupWise email, there should be minimal, if any, disruption of these services.

In addition, one or two short outages of five to ten minutes in length, will take place in the WVNET Data Center between 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. After that, we do not expect any other outages. However, we will still be working on the equipment until noon.

OIT apologizes for any inconvenience as we do try to minimize outages as much as possible. If you have any concerns or questions, contact the OIT Service Desk at 293-4444 or email oithelp@mail.wvu.edu.

Scheduled System Maintenance for eCampus and MIX

eCampus and MIX system maintenance is scheduled from Saturday, July 14 at 11 p.m. until Sunday, July 15 at 7 p.m. During that time, changes made to MyID passwords will not be synchronized to eCampus and MIX until after 7 p.m. on Sunday, July 15.

Use your current or previous MyID password to log-in to the eCampus and MIX systems. It is recommended to postpone any MyID password changes if you are using eCampus and MIX until after the maintenance period.

WVU eCampus Performance

UPDATE: The eCampus performance issues have been resolved.

Some off campus users of WVU eCampus are experiencing performance issues when they login and utilize some of the tools associated with eCampus. We are aware of the problem and every effort is being made to resolve the issues. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Reminder: eCampus Availability During Spring Break

WVU eCampus will undergo an extended maintenance period from Tuesday, March 22 at 5:00 p.m. until Thursday, March 24 at 5:00 p.m. During that time, eCampus will not be available.

During the maintenance, both the Summer and Fall 2008 terms will be purged from the eCampus system. Courses from these terms will be archived to tape backup, however the content will not be easy to recover. If a course was only taught during the Summer or Fall terms of 2008 and the content does not reside in any other location, call the OIT Service Desk for assistance in making a backup of your content on your computer or moving the course to a development system.

Between-Semester IT Workshops Added to Schedule

A variety of instructional technology workshops have been scheduled for December and early January to assist WVU faculty, instructors, and graduate teaching assistants in preparing for the Spring 2011 semester.

Data Center Upgrades Scheduled for December 19

The Office of Information Technology Systems Administration group will perform mandatory network upgrades at the WVU Primary Data Center from 6:00 a.m. – noon on Sunday, December 19. The following primary applications and services will be affected during the test period: STAR, MAP, WVU eCampus, MIX, WWW Web Servers, and MyAccess.

The above services and applications will be unavailable for a brief time during the six-hour period. OIT apologizes for any inconvenience as we do try to minimize outages as much as possible. WVU eCampus Required Maintenance

WVU eCampus, Systems Extended Maintenance on November 22

On Sunday, November 22, the WVU eCampus maintenance period (normally from 8:00 a.m. until noon) will be extended until 2:30 p.m. for necessary upgrades and patches to the system.

In addition, the OIT Systems Group will upgrade a server on November 22. During the server move, the following services will not be available from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

WVU On-line Directory Lookup (directory.wvu.edu)

  • WVUID (wvuid.wvu.edu)
  • The ability to release quarantined email from the spam filters in GroupWise (email will still flow)
