    Conference Proposal Deadline Extended to June 30

    (June 19, 2008) The proposal deadline for presentations and workshops at the 2008 West Virginia Higher Education Technology Conference has been extended to June 30, 2008. Proposals can be submitted online at http://www.wvconference.com.

    The conference committee is seeking proposals on a broad spectrum of topics pertaining to technology and higher education. Presenters will receive a $40 discount off the regular registration fee (normally $115.00). All presenters must register for the conference no later than Aug. 29, 2008. There is a limit of two presenter discounts per session and a limit of one discount per presenter.

    The conference will take place September 29-October 1, 2008 at Lakeview Golf Resort and Spa in Morgantown, WV. Experts in technology from all over West Virginia are invited to attend to connect, discuss, and learn about the latest in technology and the future of education. This year’s theme is Technology in Higher Education - Challenges, Strategies, Innovations.

    This year’s Opening Session Keynote speaker is Mark Greenfield a highly regarded, influential member of the higher education web community. He is an accomplished speaker who frequently presents at a wide range of higher education conferences and meetings where his thought provoking commentary on the impact of emerging technology on college campuses challenges audiences to rethink their basic assumptions about web communications.

    The Closing Session Keynote speaker will be Dr. Malcolm G. Lane a Professor and Head of the Department of Computer Science at James Madison University since 2000. Dr. Lane has over 20 years of experience in international information and communications technology projects with state and federal governments around the world. He is a specialist in the application of computer technology to tax and fiscal administration and financial systems with experience working in more than 30 countries. Dr. Lane served as Professor of Computer Science at West Virginia University.
