Homer Hickam to Open Statewide Technology Conference
(May 02, 2007) “Writer, Adventurer, and American Storyteller,” a presentation by West Virginia writer Homer Hickam, is the opening session at this year’s West Virginia Statewide Technology Conference on August 14. Hickam, a former NASA engineer and best known for his autobiographical novel Rocket Boys, grew up in rural Coalwood, West Virginia. He will share his exciting life experiences and autograph copies of his latest book, The Far Reaches, to be published this June.
The conference, now in its fourth year, is the foremost information technology event in West Virginia for higher education, K-12 education, and state agencies and an opportunity to share expertise in technology and new ideas.
The conference is scheduled at the Charleston Civic Center from August 14-17 and features an extensive program of presentations, exhibits, and panel discussions focusing on this year’s theme of “A Technological Convergence.”
