CentralID Accounts


What is the CentralID?

CentralID is an identification given to students, faculty, and staff members who wish to use the following WVU services/systems:

  • community.wvu.edu (Web hosting service)
  • software.systems.wvu.edu (SSH, Netscape and other software that is WVU specific)
  • centralid.wvu.edu (Used to check your web quota and other functions related to your account, like changing your password.)
  • enod.wvu.edu (Used for WVU employees to see their electronic notice of deposit.)
  • etd.wvu.edu (Electronic Theses and Dissertations)
  • ideas.wvu.edu (Business Intelligence)

What is the format of the CentralID userids?

The CentralID userid is in the form of fml### where the f is the first letter of your first name, m is the first letter of your middle name if you have one, and the l is the first letter of your last name. The ### is a sequence number, based on how many other people have the same combination of initials.

 


How long is the CentralID good for?

As long as your are currently a full time student, faculty or staff member it will be valid. The day you withdraw,graduate, no longer enrolled in a future term or cease employment at WVU it will be disabled.


I forgot my password what do I do?

Call the OIT HelpDesk at 304-293-4444 ext 1, and request it be reset. You will need to provide your WVUID Number, date of birth and your userid. In the future we will set up a self help service to allow you to reset it with out contacting OIT.
