Unique Numbers

The AIS Scanning Service has provided the following information to faculty in regard to recent questions about using a student's Social Security Number as a unique identifier. Please use the following information when completing the Identification Number section of your test sheets for the scanning service.

  • The scanning software requires a unique number with no imbedded or leading spaces.
  • The assigned number MUST be at least two digits. For example, the system would accept "01", but not "1" to produce a report.
  • This number does not have to be 9 digits.
  • Faculty members who use the service should assign each student a unique number for testing purposes to avoid duplicates.
  • Packets that contain numbering errors will be returned to the Faculty member without a report.
Mistakes in assigning numbers will cause the entire packet to be returned to the Faculty member for correction. For other information about the scanning service
